Organizational Wellbeing in Corona Times

DEDI will host a second-round session, titled “Organizational Wellbeing in Corona Times” on Sunday 19th of July at 8:00 PM. We are very proud to have mental health expert, Karim Abobakr, to shed light on the challenges of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, with a focus on development sector organizations.

The session will also be moderated by Samar El Saadaany, Stress and Resilience Consultant.
In this regard, the talk shall touch upon the following points and questions:
  1. What do we mean by workplace mental health and wellbeing?
  2. Why should we care? The case for good work
  3. What to address: Psychosocial risks to employee health
  4. The Development Sector: Risks within the industry
  5. What can we do? Types of intervention

Priority will be given to applicants:

  1. Aged 18 and above
  2. Working in civil society organizations, cultural centers, or any similar entities
  3. Having ongoing initiatives or project ideas with a community-development dimension
* Representatives from women and/ or youth-led initiatives, as well as participants with special needs, are highly encouraged to apply.

 

Facilitators Background

Karim Abobakr: Co-Founder & Co-CEO, Mirqah
Karim works at the intersection of mental health, management, and education. Co-founder and Co-CEO of Mirqah and advisory board member at various small and medium-sized enterprises spanning software development, market research, and workplace design, amongst others.

Karim has a wealth of experience in management education and development. Over the past decade, he has worked with a variety of multinational, regional, and small and medium enterprises educating managers and aiding organizational transformations.

Karim comes from a medical background with an MBBCh, specializing in psychiatry and is currently pursuing further postgraduate research studies in Workplace Health and Wellbeing at the University of Nottingham. He is currently focused on the use of management education as a vehicle for the promotion of workplace health promotion in developing countries.

 

Samar El Saadaany: Stress and Resilience Consultan Samar has over 12 years in learning design and development, monitoring and evaluation, and assessment centers. Samar holds an MA in anthropology from AUC and is a certified Group Therapist from EAGT. She is also a psychodrama practitioner and is well acquainted with Trauma-informed methods such as somatic experiencing and TSM Action Method. Currently, Samar works on using drama elements to develop organizational solutions that are effective and empowering.
