Mors Cultural Summit 2019

For the second year in a row, DEDI presents an international program of music, films, talks and encounters at Mors Cultural Summit. Kulturmødet is Denmark’s center stage for discussing arts and culture. The next edition takes place in Nykøbing Mors, Denmark, from August 22nd – 24th, 2019.

V E R D E N S S T E M M E R /  Voices of the world is organized this year by DEDI, DCI, IMS, and DID

What does a Chinese feminist band sound like? Why create international art and cultural projects and why exchange with other countries and continents? Who owns the Syrian cultural heritage? These are some of the questions the program is addressing.

Our program highlights include experimental, jazz and folk concerts, a Back to Back DJ set (inspired by Future Female Sounds DJ Academy) presenting an intersection of electronic and analog music from Egypt and North Africa, a film program featuring award winning documentaries and guest speakers, a display of Chinese and Danish gender equality posters, and much more.

Danish Egyptian Dialogue Initiative (DEDI) works with different partners on promoting exchange between Denmark and Egypt within the fields of arts and culture, media and civic education. In recent years, a focus area has been securing the dissemination of knowledge about Egyptian and Middle Eastern culture in Denmark, by supporting the participation of artists and guest speakers, in festivals and major cultural events in Denmark.

Danish Cultural Institute (DCI) promotes intercultural understanding through art and culture. We create cultural exchanges, meetings and events and work in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals while doing that. In Copenhagen, China, India, Brazil, Poland, Russia, and the Baltics, our offices work with promoting Danish art, culture and society values in cooperation with local partners, art cultural institutions, and civil society organizations around the world.

International Media Support (IMS) is an international organization working to support local media in countries affected by armed conflict, human insecurity and political transition. Across four continents, we help to strengthen professional journalism and ensure that media can operate in challenging circumstances.

The Danish Institute in Damascus (DID) is a forum for the exchange of culture and knowledge between Denmark and the Arab world. Since 2012, due to the security situation in Syria, all activities taking place at DID have been suspended. The institute, though, still arrange scientific and cultural activities in the neighboring countries Jordan and Lebanon and awards scholarships to Danish researchers, students and artists.
