The Danish Egyptian Dialogue Institute (DEDI) cordially with the Swedish Institute in Alexandria and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) organized a four- day Youth Exchange Program which brought 40 participants from 25 European and Arab countries in Alexandria from the 28th of April to the 2nd of May, 2018 to engage in dialogue on the issue of Migration across the EU-MENA region.
Discussions were centred on topics concerning refugees, migrants and other types of people on the move to enrich the current migration discourse with brilliant thoughts of youth from diverse academic, professional and geographical backgrounds. The program addressed different sub-topics including:
1) Migration theories and myths on human mobility
2) Migration trends in the Euro-Mediterranean region
3) Influential stakeholders in migration management
4) Impact of Climate Change on the migration trends in the EUROMED region
In addition, the participants were allowed with a participatory approach to challenge the speakers’ argumentations and build on the overall debate on migration. Participants likewise were encouraged to imagine scenarios and reflect on a web of implications in relevance to the migration debate via working groups using dialogical tools and methods.
