Photo Marathon 2020

We are happy to invite everyone interested in photography to participate in this year’s Photo Marathon, which will take place in coastal city Damietta, Egypt.

The Photo Marathon is a yearly competition open to professionals and amateur photographers that are looking for a new and dynamic way to interact with the city. The participants will have ten hours to take ten photos in which they interpret 10 different themes. All photos have to be submitted before the end of the day.

Afterwards, a jury committee will award prizes for the 3 best overall photo collection, as well as prizes for the best photo within each theme. The winning photos as well as photos from other participants will be shown in an exhibition taking place in Damietta shortly after the marathon.

Competition rules

All participants will start the marathon at the same time. Four themes will be revealed in the morning, and the remaining 6 will be revealed after a shared lunch break, giving the participants in total 10 hours to complete the assignment. The themes will be circulated in Arabic, and will remain confidential until the competition begins.

Participants can use either mobile or digital cameras to shoot their photos. The event is for free, and no prior experience in photography is required for participation.
