Loosely translated as the “World in a Box”, Sanduq El-Dunia is a touchscreen installation, that creates a dynamic relationship with Cairo’s heritage. By presenting photographs in the form of an interactive, virtual map, users are able to delve into the aspects of the city’s past and present, and reflect on Cairo’s deeply layered history. It was designed following the success of the award-winning project The Wall, pioneered by the Museum of Copenhagen with Gibson Group, but has been incubated by DEDI since 2012. Sanduq el-Dunia is currently exhibited at the Child Museum in Heliopolis.
