Rehab Omar, Egyptian novelist

A series of writing workshops organized by the feminist initiative NUT changed the life of Rehab Omar as she found her voice. Today, she has published three novels.

During a three days long workshop organized by NUT in Mansoura, Egypt, the Danish journalist Sara Moeller met with 42-years old Rehab Omar. She is mother to four, wife and feminist writer. In the article, Sara Moeller shares Rehab’s inspiring story. She attended a series of feminist writing workshops and this experience paved a way for her to express her feelings. Five years later, she has published three novels and continues to share her thoughts on being a woman in today’s Egypt.

NUT is an Egyptian, feminist initiative established in 2015 by Hager Elmoghazi. The aim is to spread knowledge and start dialogues on gender equality in Egypt’s Delta area. DEDI has supported NUT through multiple trainings sessions.

The article is written in Danish and published by DAPP (Danish-Arab Partnership Program). You can read the article HERE
